As temperatures soared into the 80s on Friday, the trickling waters of Beaver Run in Noxen Township, Wyoming County, kept the air temperature about 10 degrees cooler under the forest canopy of Patriots Cove. The retreat for veterans and first responders was abuzz with activity in advance of next Friday’s annual Fish for the Fallen tournament.

While some are relishing the sudden summer-like temperatures, others are already seeking relief. Today’s highs near 90 degrees are likely the peak of a short-lived heatwave that will be followed by more seasonable weather in the coming week.
There is a slight chance for a shower almost every day in the near future. Mild overnight lows should allow for pools and other favorite swimming spots to warm up nicely by Memorial Day.
The long-term forecast follows:
Friday: 90/61 partly cloudy
Saturday: 86/65 mostly cloudy
Sunday: 85/55 PM shower possible
Monday: 70/50 mostly sunny
Tuesday: 75/65 mostly cloudy
Wednesday: 88/60 warm, PM storm
Thursday: 76/54 scattered showers
Friday: 75/53 mostly sunny
Saturday: 75/55 showers possible
