The waterfall on Meshoppen Creek, as it flows into the borough of Meshoppen, appeared to be frozen in time this afternoon (Jan. 29). The stream continues to run under the thickening ice, of course, and might rise a bit this weekend with a spate of slightly milder weather on tap and a chance for rain showers on Saturday. Temperatures are expected to trend downward again after the weekend, however, with single-digit lows returning by next Wednesday evening, Feb. 5. Meshoppen reached a high of 18 degrees at 12:45 pm today, and temperatures are expected to bottom out between 5 and 10 degrees above zero overnight.
