Winter is here, and Kiwanis Club of Sullivan County is preparing for Winterfest 2019, scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 15, at Camp Brulé, 2559 North Street, Forksville.
Mark your calendars to attend this amazing outdoor family event with plenty of indoor space to keep warm. The gates open for Winterfest at 7 am, with the day starting off with an ice fishing tournament with prizes for both children and adults, as well as ice skating for fun.
Enjoy watching ice carvers perform their magic right before your eyes beginning at 10 am. Sled dog teams will be performing demonstrations; your child could even be lucky enough to get a sled dog ride around the lake.
Don’t miss the Polar Bear Plunge at noon sharp. Plungers, who often dress in costumes to make the activity even more fun, will solicit pledges to benefit local children while competing for prizes donated by local businesses, including two grand prizes of a cruise for two to the Bahamas or the Caribbean.
Be the winning bid on amazing prizes and gift certificates at a live auction to be held directly after the plunge.
Enjoy all the free activities like the ice slide, ice skating, sled riding, frozen fish toss, and then warm up in the 30-foot inflated igloo. Don’t miss the scavenger hunt where 4-person teams compete for cold hard cash. Pick up a treasure from the local vendors and enjoy delicious food all day long.
