Missoula Children’s Residency in Sayre (Bradford County) and more than 50 local students will present an original musical adaptation of “Rapunzle” on Saturday, Oct. 11 in the Guthrie Performing Arts Center at the Sayre Theatre. The cast will be comprised of students in grades kindergarten through 12 who attend an audition at the school from 4 to 6 pm on Monday, Oct. 6.

The Missoula Residency, a type of theater camp to be conducted weeknights through Oct. 10 is made possible, in part, by the Bradford County Regional Arts Council (BCRAC) and the United Way. The program was developed to provide an interactive theatre experience to be shared by primary and secondary students alike.

It’s “out of the tower and on the run” as a zany cast of friends and foes assist Rapunzel in her harrowing escape from the towering imprisonment of Madame Gothel. A dash of French flair and a pinch of personal triumph and friendship will lead the young participants through an adventure they won’t soon forget.

Auditions on Oct. 6 will begin at 4 pm, but those wishing to take part should arrive by 3:45 pm and plan to stay through 6 pm. Some of the cast members will be asked to stay for a rehearsal immediately following the audition.

Final performances will be presented on Oct. 11 at 2 and 7 pm at the Sayre Theatre. Tickets are $6 and will be available at the door.

The BCRAC, established in 1976, is a nonprofit organization dedicated to building and supporting a thriving regional arts community by advocating for the arts, cultivation quality arts programming and preserving Bradford County’s historic theaters as venues for performances, community events, and movies.
