Working to ensure that Pennsylvania’s insurance laws are protecting consumers in a fair and equitable fashion, Rep. Tina Pickett (Bradford/Sullivan/Susquehanna) was selected this week to continue her service as chairman of the House Insurance Committee during the 2019-20 legislative session. The appointment was announced by Speaker of the House Mike Turzai (Allegheny).
“The complexities of insurance can be daunting to Pennsylvania consumers,” Pickett said. “That’s why it’s imperative that right and fair laws are in place to govern how insurance policies and companies impact the lives of our citizens.”
Pickett is looking forward to continuing work on several important issues including establishing additional consumer safeguards regarding surprise balance billing, ensuring the viability of rural hospitals across the state, and allowing for medication synchronization in Pennsylvania.
Prior to serving as majority chairman of the Insurance Committee, Pickett chaired the House Gaming Oversight Committee, and during her tenure, was a member of several leading House committees including Transportation, Consumer Affairs, and Agriculture and Rural Affairs. On New Year’s Day, she took the oath of office to serve her 10th term as representative for the 110th Legislative District.
