Northern Tier Industry & Education Consortium (NTIEC) recently received a $20,000 grant from Procter & Gamble (P&G) to support career education initiatives for area youth in Wyoming, Susquehanna, Sullivan, Bradford and Tioga counties which surround the P&G Mehoopany Plant.
The grant will help NTIEC create a stronger workforce by bringing together students, educators and area businesses. Shealynn Shave, NTIEC’s Executive Director stated, “this funding will allow us to provide in-depth, mentored, work-based learning experiences for students who have an interest in a specific field through youth apprenticeships, hospital internships, healthcare career experience camps, job shadowing and workplace tours.”
NTIEC’s reputation and long-term relationships with employers enables them to place students and employers face-to-face for a “real-world view” of career opportunities and educational requirements necessary to be successful. NTIEC would like to thank P&G for this gracious funding and also for their continued partnership on building a stronger local workforce.
