Andrew Nicholas Thomas, 25, Nicholson Township, faces charges for fleeing and attempting to elude police officers, driving an unregistered vehicle on a DUI suspended license, agricultural trespass, driving with no bumper, disregarding traffic lanes, and driving at unsafe speeds.

State police on routine patrol in Nicholson just after midnight on July 21 observed Thomas driving a blue Chevy Silverado with no bumper and an obstructed license plate and initiated a traffic stop. According to the police report, Thomas failed to yield at a stop sign on Main Street and took the patrolmen on a high speed chase out of town up Brecht Hill Road and into Lathrop Township in Susquehanna County via Dimock Nicholson Road, where he drove through a cornfield in the area of Williams Road. After coming to an intersection of Glemboski and Williams roads, police say that Thomas entered another cornfield, where they discontinued their pursuit.

On July 23, they located Thomas at his girlfriend’s house in Lathrop Township. They observed the pickup truck to have corn stalks in the tires and undercarriage.

A preliminary hearing will be held on Aug. 7.
