UMC’s ‘Journey to Bethlehem’ Returns Dec. 14

Submitted Article

For the third year, Tunkhannock United Methodist Church will be presenting Journey to Bethlehem. Scheduled for Friday and Saturday, Dec. 14 and 15, it will take place between 6 and 9 pm both evenings.

This is a fun and inspiring event for the young, old and in-between. Imaginations will be challenged to return to Biblical times. Visitors will be assisted to board wagons (with hay bale seats and lots of blankets to keep them cozy) which will take them to eight interactive scenes throughout the borough.

Narrators with microphones will make it all come to life. Roman guards will challenge them, Caesar will demand their taxes, they’ll hear an angel make his announcements to Mary and Joseph, the bakery will provide samples of bread, there will be no room at the inn, and shepherds will be abiding in the fields. The grand finale is the incredibly beautiful Nativity scene, complete with the Wise Men and a choir.

The final stop is back at the church for homemade cookies and hot beverages. It’ s all free as a Christmas gift to the community. No matter where you live in the area, you are cordially invited to experience this once-a-year special holiday event, which involves more than 80 people.

The church is located at the corner of Church and Warren Streets in Tunkhannock.
