‘Telecommunications Week’ Marked in Wyoming County

During their Thursday work session, the Wyoming County Commissioners thanked 911 executive director Jeff Porter, deputy director Frank Miller and dispatchers Ben Norris and Matthew Schwartz for their service to the public with the reading of a proclamation declaring April 10-16 National Public Telecommunications Week in Wyoming County.

In part, the proclamation read “Whereas, public safety dispatchers are the single, vital link for our police officers, firefighters, and EMS personnel by monitoring their activities, providing them information, and insuring their safety. Public safety dispatchers of the Wyoming County 911 Center have contributed substantially to the apprehension of criminals, suppression of fires, and treatment of patients.”

In addition to the commendation, the commissioners individually remarked on the “compassion, understanding, and professionalism” the dispatchers bring to the Center every day.
