The Northern Tier Symphony is announcing its spring program with concerts at three locations in April and May.
The orchestra, led by music director and conductor Robert Helmacy, will perform on Friday, April 21 at 8 pm at Tunkhannock Area Middle School; on Friday, April 28 at 8 pm at Wallenpaupack High School in Hawley; and on Friday, May 5 at 8 pm at Athens Area High School in Athens.
The program for the concert consists of the overture to “Lucio Silla”, by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart; the tone poem “Mannin Veen” (“Dear Isle of Man”) by Haydn Wood; the overture to Giuseppe Verdi’s opera “Nabucco”; and Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s suite from “Swan Lake” ballet.
All seating for the concerts is general admission. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students of any age. Tickets can be purchased at the door, at Gay’s True Value Hardware, 189 E. Tioga St., Tunkhannock and Greenwood’s Furniture, 61 E. Tioga St., Tunkhannock. Tickets can also be reserved by calling 570-981-9006. Phone order tickets can be picked up at will call.
The Northern Tier Symphony Orchestra was founded in 2010 as a non-profit community orchestra with the goal of bringing live classical music to the Endless Mountains region of Pennsylvania. It is based in Tunkhannock, where it presents several concerts each year. Concerts are also presented at other locations in the Northern Tier.
