Heritage Region to Host Annual Conference at Wysox – Organization Marks 20th Anniversary

The annual meeting of the Endless Mountains Heritage Region will be held at the Wysox Fire Hall (above) and paired with a conference marking the organizations 20th anniversary on Friday, Oct. 12. Guest speakers will share stories of how numerous heritage sites, such as the Troy Sale Barn (top) have been assisted by the EMHR. 

The Endless Mountains Heritage Region (EMHR) was founded in 1998 to represent and serve Bradford, Sullivan, Susquehanna and Wyoming counties. On Friday, Oct. 12, EMHR board members and new executive director Cain Chamberlin will host a conference and annual business meeting at the Wysox Fire Hall on Friday, Oct. 12 from 9:30 am to noon with lunch to follow.

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the organization, representatives from organizations and entities that have benefited from funding through the EMHR. Guest speakers will include Elaine Poost of the Bradford County Regional Arts Council, Bob Veleker of the Home & Textile Museum, Nicole Harris and Bill Bower of the Troy Sale Barn, PA Game Commission officer Bill Williams on the ghost town of Ricketts, Melanie Norton of the Sullivan County Historical Society, Sandy Wilmot of the Clifford Township Historical Society and Clifford Township Park and Recreation Complex Trail, and Erica Rogler of the Wyoming County Cultural Center.

To commemorate our 20th year in existence, we felt it would be appropriate to invite past EMHR grantees to speak and illustrate how much of an asset this organization has been to our region and how crucial it is to its prosperity and sustainability,” said Chamberlin. “All of these past projects embody our goals of heritage resource protection, agricultural preservation, recreational development, conservation, and economic growth. The Endless Mountains Heritage Region is eager to continue working with our area organizations and communities on this endeavors long into the future.”

An update on Salt Springs Park in Susquehanna County and volunteer efforts still needed to repair flood damage will also be offered. Additional speakers have yet to be confirmed.
