Dushore area artist Karen Black welcomes October with news of a free art class at the Sullivan County Library and the pending release of a coloring book for the holidays.
Black’s next Artist in Residence at the library will take place on Thursday, Oct. 12 from 6 to 8 pm. There are a few seats available for the free class that can be reserved by calling 570-928-9352.
Participants will create a mosaic on canvas wall art, which begins by choosing a color scheme and painting a background. While that is drying, the class will punch out geometric shapes from old calendars and colorful magazines to create a design. Participants are welcome to bring their own magazines, etc. Then they will create a mosaic pattern and seal it to their canvas.
The class is free, and all supplies are provided thanks to the PA Partners of the Arts, Bradford County Regional Arts Council, and the Sullivan County Public Library. Ellie McCarty Fitzgerald will help to host the event.
The Dushore Coloring Book, with images penned by Black, are headed to the publisher this week. The book release will happen at the Dushore Christmas parade. Santa will be passing out free Coloring Books and full sets of Crayons.
Additional information will be released after Dushore’s Oktoberfest on the Dushore Area Business Association Facebook page and in the organization’s next newsletter.
