Parenting is a full time job, in addition to the hustle and bustle of day-to-day living from home life to work life to relationships and families. With so much to juggle, it can be difficult for parents and those providing care to make time for themselves. On Saturday, April 1 from 10 am to noon, the Dietrich Theater will host Family Day.
Presented in conjunction with H.A.N.D.S of Wyoming County and the Wyoming County Office of Human Services and sponsored by AllOne Charities & Northeastern PA Healthcare Foundation, this free event includes a presentation on the importance of parental/caregiver self-care, fun activities, a magic show with Damian the Magician for children, and a pizza lunch for the entire family.
From 10 to 11:30 am, parents and caregivers will have the opportunity to attend a presentation by Rijelle Kraft, M.A. B.A., titled Taking Care of Yourself – Building Protective Factors for You and Your Family. During her talk, Rijelle will share how resilient families start with resilient parents and caregivers. Attendees will learn about the Strengthening Families Protective Factors – five characteristics that keep families strong and thriving.
Participants will explore self-care strategies that support their well-being and will have a chance to share it with other family members. Riejelle’s hope is that parents and caregivers will leave feeling refreshed and equipped with some new tools to nurture themselves and their families.
Cathy Franko, executive director of H.A.N.D.S. of Wyoming County said, “We are excited to present Family Day because it’s a wonderful way to kick off the Month of the Young Child.”
