The EMHR’s 2023 annual meeting drew a large crowd to Vosburg Neck State Park. This year’s meeting will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 2, at the Bradford County Communications Center in North Towanda.
The Endless Mountains Heritage Region will hold its annual meeting and luncheon on Wednesday, Oct. 2, from 9:30 to noon at the Bradford County Communications Center in North Towanda.
After a brief business meeting, EMHR executive director Cain Chamberlin will provide an overview of accomplishments from the past year and plans for the future, inviting a number of other speakers to provide details on 2024 Partnership/Mini-Grant recipients, the Susquehanna River North Branch Water Trail, and the EMHR’s bid to become a National Heritage Area.
“Each year, the EMHR seems to get busier with new programs, activities, and ventures,” Chamberlin (above) stated. “We’re very excited to showcase the very best of what we’ve done over the past year, as well as to provide an update on our quest for National Heritage Area designation.”
EMHR’s Water Trail Coordinator Emily Baldauff (above) will help Chamberlin present a summary of river paddles held since spring, as well as the 11-mile annual Fall Heritage Benefit Paddle slated for Saturday, Oct. 5, which will raise funding for the Bradford County Conservation District.
“In a sense, the Susquehanna River has become our second home,” said Chamberlin. “And we want to continue to foster a relationship between recreationists and one of our most valuable natural resources.”
Augie Carlino (above) of Point Heritage Development Consulting will detail where the EMHR is in the complex process of getting recognition from the National Park Service that will identify Bradford, Sullivan, Susquehanna, and Wyoming counties as a National Heritage Area.
“Augie has helped numerous other regional and state heritage organizations achieve this status. Through the hard work of our committee and the support of the public and our elected officials, from township supervisors up to representatives of the U.S. House and Senate, he believes that we can do the same,” Chamberlin related. “Augie’s confidence in our organization and the significance that our region has played in America’s story has strengthened our resolve to move forward diligently and with determination under the guidance of Point Heritage to bring this plan to fruition.”
A catered lunch by Jones Diner Custom Catering will follow the presentations. Registration is required, and a ten dollar admission fee, which can be paid through online registration or at the door, is requested to help cover the cost of the meal.
