Not One More in Wyoming County and The Addict’s Mom will present a community education night for all who are touched by addiction. The primary topic is How and Why Addiction is Considered a Disease.

The event will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 28, from 5:30 to 7:30 pm in the Tunkhannock Public Library Community Room at 220 Tioga Street.

With so many debating if addiction is a disease or not, I have gathered a panel of medical professionals and a few people who have received dual diagnoses,” said The Addict’s Mom Northeast Regional administrator Celeste Kranick, who notes that the event will be “kid-friendly.”

Speakers will include family physician Dr. Jeanne Torony of Wilkes-Barre, clinical psychologist Dr. John Kuna of Moosic, and Tunkhannock Commonwealth Health Emergency Department director Ted Kross. Ryan Taylor and Michael Kranick will share their experiences with dual diagnosis and recovery.

The speaking and information session will be followed by a question and answer session.

Kranick invites people to arrive early to browse informational booths from various community resources and advocates that will provide materials and education on addiction and the brain. Light refreshments will be available.

For more information contact, Kranick can be reached at 570-469-4014.
