Rep. Karen Boback (Lackawanna/Luzerne/Wyoming) invites residents of the 117th District to an educational Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) Seminar on Wednesday, April 25, at 6:30 pm at the Factoryville Sportsmen’s Club.
The seminar will be led by Wayne Laroche (above. left), special assistant for CWD at the PA Game Commission. CWD affects the brain and nervous system of infected cervids (deer, elk and moose) eventually resulting in death. The disease has been detected in several areas throughout Pennsylvania but is not a threat to people.
“CWD is threatening Pennsylvania’s deer population,” said Boback. “I want to inform the public about signs of the disease and how to appropriately inform the Game Commission if the presence of CWD is suspected.”
The seminar is free of charge and open to the public.
Seating is limited and will fill up quickly, so interested individuals should pre-register as soon as possible by calling Boback’s Dallas district office at (570) 675-6000 or signing up at www.RepBoback.com.
