Rep. Karen Boback (Lackawanna/Luzerne/Wyoming) has been appointed by Gov. Tom Wolf to serve a second two-year term on the Pennsylvanian Commission for Women. She will be sworn in during the commission’s next quarterly meeting at the Governor’s Residence on Oct. 16.
“It is truly an honor to be chosen by the governor to once again serve on the Pennsylvania Commission for Women,” said Boback. “The work we are doing to improve opportunities for women and girls is important and I look forward to continuing those efforts with our impressive group of fellow commission members.”
The Pennsylvania Commission for Women, which was created by executive order and consists of volunteer members, is responsible for advising the governor on policies and legislation that impact women; supporting economic and civic opportunities for women; encouraging mentoring programs for girls and young women; identifying programs and opportunities for the benefit and advancement of women; and serving as a resource center. The commission also acts as an advocate for policies and legislation it feels serve the best interest of women and girls in the Commonwealth.
Boback joins a group of 33 business, civic and community leaders as a member of the commission.
