A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held today at Blossoming Stems Floral on Kim Avenue, west of Tunkhannock. Owner Lovey Tyler and her helpers welcomed guests throughout the morning to the custom floral and gift shop which was open in time for Mother’s Day. In addition to eye-popping arrangements, visitors found a wide array of home décor items, unique cards, soaps and candles, and jewelry.

The opening of Blossoming Stems was a long-time desire for Lovey. “I just love flowers. It’s something that I’ve always been interested in,” said, Lovey, a 2001 Tunkhannock High School graduate. She considered purchasing an existing shop but opted to try something entirely new.

The business slowdown associated with the coronaviris pandemic ironically gave Lovey, her husband, Anthony, and many other family members and friends extra time for renovations. The layout allows safe distancing for browsers and those coming in to pick up orders.

Fans of American-made goods will be happy to see macrame items and jewelry made by local artisans. “Everything is imported these days. It’s so sad,” Lovey remarked. “I’m proud to say that most of our stock is made in the U.S.A.”

Guests on Friday included representatives from the Wyoming County Chamber of Commerce and county commissioners Tom Henry and Ernie King.

Blossoming Stems Floral is open from 10 am to 4 pm Tuesdays through Saturdays. Lovey expects to extend those hours as the holidays approach. Delivery within a 20 mile radius of Tunkhannock is available each day for orders placed before 2 pm. Orders made after 2 pm will be made on the next delivery day. Orders can be made online via private message to their Facebook page or by calling 570-290-3568.

Guests at the shop’s ribbon cutting event could register for this lively gift basket.

Flowers can also be the subject matter of home décor items available at Blossoming Stems Floral.

This arrangement emphasizes texture.
