There wasn’t a square mile in Susquehanna County where it wasn’t raining in Susquehanna County at 9 am on Saturday morning. The entire county is under a flood warning through mid morning at least.

Heavy rains falling overnight on already saturated ground in Susquehanna County resulted in flash flooding in the Lawton area this morning. Rain continues to create problems in Lawton, Auburn Township and across much of the rest of the county.
At 7:35 am, the National Weather Service in Binghamton issued a flood warning for the county until 10:30 am. Additional locations throughout the county expected to experience minor flooding include Jackson, Clifford, Susquehanna Depot, Forest City, Springville, Montrose, Dimock, Harford and Hallstead.
As of 8:45, there were reports from residents in the western end of the county that water is over Rt. 267 at Auburn Center and that SR 3001 is flooded to South Auburn.
Lawton Diner owner Melissa Blaisure posted these photos of flooding in and around the eatery this morning with a public message stating “Lawton Diner is closed until further notice.”
Months of gully-washing rain events have undermined pavement and eroded many berms along rural roads. Authorities remind motorists encountering flooded roadways to “Turn Around. Don’t Drown.”
