Milder Days Should Bring Anglers Back to River

Photos by Rick Hiduk
At 3 degrees with wind chills in the minus teens, even the hardiest of ice fishers gave up on angling at Skinners Eddy on Saturday morning. Moderating temperatures should draw the clandestine crew back to the river shelf by Monday, but warmer weather and showers the rest of the week could make the Susquehanna unsafe for fishing until another hard freeze.

The eight-day forecast follows:

Saturday night’s expected low -10 clear

Sunday 19/10 mostly sunny

Monday 30/30 PM snow

Tuesday 35/15 AM flurries

Wednesday 37/32 PM showers

Thursday 48/45 PM showers

Friday 45/32 showers

Saturday 34/20 rain to snow

Sunday 25/15 mostly cloudy

The EndlessMtnLifestyles.com weather report is based on expected conditions at approximately 1,100 ft elevation in Meshoppen Township, Wyoming County, near the center of the Endless Mountains region. Residents of river towns can generally expect slightly higher temperatures, while those at higher elevations may experience lower temperatures.
