Weather Window: Minor Flood Threat Still Looms

The Susquehanna River was rising steadily at Sugar Run in Bradford County, as seen from Franklin Street, this afternoon (top), and at the river bridge to Wyalusing Township (above). Significant rains today are likely to push the river over its banks in low-lying areas throughout the Endless Mountains on Friday and Saturday.

Today’s heavy rains might be the end of the string of wet weather that has plagued the region since the blizzard, but the worst of the flooding of farm fields and camp sites may occur from Friday night into Saturday morning.

Next week is expected to start on a very pleasant note, with highs in the 70s and plenty of sunshine.

The NWS Advanced Hydrological Predictions service (http://water.weather.gov/ahps2/index.php?wfo=bgm) estimated river and stream levels as of 6 pm on Friday follow.
