‘National Theatre Live’ to Return to BCRAC Screens

The Bradford County Regional Arts Council (BCRAC) announces the newest season of London’s National Theatre Live.  The newest edition includes great titles, fantastic performance, famous actors, and all from the comfort of your local, hometown theaters.

National Theatre Live is London’s groundbreaking project with its National Theatre to bring the best of British theatre “as live” from the London stage to cinemas across the globe.  Actual live performances are recorded in high-definition and then sent out worldwide allowing theater-goers to experience these performances for a price only slightly higher than the cost of a normal movie ticket and without the hassle and cost of a plane flight to London. NT Live includes a unique interval piece, which provides you with background and contextual information to the production. This includes interviews with a range of experts; interviews with the Director, Playwright, and the actors; and behind the scenes rehearsal footage; all of which enhance your understanding and appreciation of the production. NT Live is a fascinating theater experience for all from the novice to the ardent patron of theater.

FEBRUARY: The Deep Blue Sea: 3.0 hr (above)

When Hester Collyer is found by her neighbors in the aftermath of a failed suicide attempt, the story of her tempestuous affair with a former RAF pilot and the breakdown of her marriage to a High Court judge begins to emerge.

MARCH: No Man’s Land: 2.5 hr (top)

One summer’s evening, two aging writers, Hirst and Spooner, meet in a Hampstead pub. As the pair become increasingly inebriated, and their stories increasingly unbelievable, the lively conversation soon turns into a revealing power game, further complicated by the return home of two sinister younger men. Keystone Theatre: March 16 @ 10:00AM, Sayre Theatre: March 19 @ 4:00PM, Rialto Theatre: March 23 @ 6:30PM

APRIL: Amadeus: 3.5 hr

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, a rowdy young prodigy, arrives in Vienna, the music capital of the world – and he’s determined to make a splash. Awestruck by his genius, court composer Antonio Salieri has the power to promote his talent or destroy his name. Seized by obsessive jealousy he begins a war with Mozart, with music, and with God.

MAY: Saint Joan: 4.0 hr

Bernard Shaw’s classic play follows the life and trial of a young country girl who declares a bloody mission to drive the English from France. As one of the first Protestants and nationalists, she threatens the very fabric of the feudal society and the Catholic Church across Europe. Keystone Theatre: May 11 @ 10:00, Sayre Theatre: May 14 @ 4:00PM, Rialto Theatre: May 18 @ 6:30PM

JUNE: Hedda Gabler: 3.5 hr

Just married and bored already, Hedda longs to be free. Hedda and Tesman have just returned from their honeymoon and the relationship is already in trouble. Trapped but determined, Hedda tries to control those around her, only to see her own world unravel. Keystone Theatre: June 8 @ 10:00AM, Sayre Theatre: June 11 @ 4:00PM, Rialto Theatre: June 22 @ 6:30PM
