Weather Window: Snow to Replace Melting Ice?

Photos by Rick Hiduk
A heavy coating of ice was hanging tough this morning in Montrose but was expected to thaw quickly as temperatures inched toward 40 degrees in the Susquehanna County seat on Wednesday afternoon.

Several school districts in the Endless Mountains either began Wednesday late or canceled classes altogether after snow, sleet and freezing rain accumulated overnight. Another bout of showers this evening should wash away all of the ice.

A brief spike in temperatures – perhaps as high as 50 on Thursday – will be followed by more moderate weather and a chance of snow on Saturday evening. Sunday should be sunny!

The eight-day forecast follows:

Wednesday Night’s expected low: 40

Thursday – 50/35 (showers)

Friday35/18 (partly cloudy)

Saturday29/19 (snow showers)

Sunday35/20 (sunny)

Monday – 40/30 (partly cloudy)

Tuesday42/32 (showers)

Wednesday 45/40 (showers)

Thursday45/30 (showers)

The EndlessMtnLifestyles.com weather report is based on expected conditions at approximately 1,100 ft elevation in Meshoppen Township, Wyoming County, near the center of the Endless Mountains region. Residents of river towns can generally expect slightly higher temperatures, while those at higher elevations may experience lower temperatures.
