‘An Endless Mountains Christmas’ Brochure to Highlight Holiday Activities

The Endless Mountains Visitors Bureau (EMVB) will issue a brochure in November that highlights all of the events and special activities in Sullivan, Susquehanna and Wyoming counties happening between Friday, Nov. 27 and New Year’s Eve. In a year that has been anything but ordinary, shop and restaurant owners and managers of other visitor destinations are encouraged to get creative.

Start thinking outside ‘the usual,’ and let’s make Christmas something special this year,” says EMVB executive director Jean Ruhf. “In order to attract shoppers, diners and other guests to our area, we need your input for our Endless Mountains Christmas brochure.”

It may seem a bit early to some to be thinking about Christmas – especially while the pandemic and politics dominate the news – but details are needed by Thursday, Oct. 1, to allow ample time for layout and printing of the publication. The brochure will be distributed locally, in nearby counties, and throughout Pennsylvania and New York states at highway rest areas and welcome centers.

During challenging times, people tend to get nostalgic for what we recall as simpler, heart-warming moments,” Ruhf notes. “With people looking to small towns as travel destinations again, there’s no better time for us to pump up the charm for which communities in the Endless Mountains are already known and maximize our potential as a region at a time when our economy could use a boost to end a rough year.”

Events like an open house don’t have to be extravagant or cost much money, Ruhf maintains, “Just something that shows off your Christmas spirit. With the pandemic and safe distancing considered, what can you do to make your business extra special?” Some other ideas include special holiday entrees, desserts or beverages, seasonal varieties at wineries and breweries, and holiday-only special deals on gift purchases.

There is no cost to have an event included in the brochure for members or non-members, as the EMVB is currently offering free memberships to help businesses get through the health crisis and offer as much variety as possible to potential visitors. Communities and churches planning activities such as tree-lighting ceremonies, live nativities and Christmas caroling are encouraged to participate.

As we slowly reopen, we are hoping that this offer will help all of the small, locally owned businesses,” says Ruhf. Members benefit from the EMVB’s promotional strategy that includes placing ads in local, regional, state and national publications and on social media. “Think of the Endless Mountains Christmas brochure as the star atop your free membership Christmas tree!”
