Visitors Bureau Offers Free Membership

The sky seems as endless as our mountains (top) on a summer day over Nicholson, home of the historic Tunkhannock Viaduct, in Wyoming County. The Eagles Mere Auto Museum (above) in Sullivan County is open from Spring through Fall and houses two floors of classic cars, mostly from the 1950s and ’60s.

The Endless Mountains Visitors Bureau, serving Sullivan, Susquehanna and Wyoming counties is offering free membership to tourism-related businesses starting immediately and continuing through 2021. Applications are now available.

The tourism industry has been greatly impacted by the coronavirus pandemic due to travel concerns and limited access to amenities,” said EMVB executive director Jean Ruhf. “As we slowly reopen, we are hoping that this offer will help all of the small, locally owned businesses.”

The EMVB has been the designated tourist promotion agency for the three counties since 1962 with a goal of marketing the region as a whole. Members benefit from the EMVB’s promotion strategy that includes placing ads in local, regional, state and national publications and social media.

In addition to making brochures for member businesses available to guests at the Endless Mountains Visitors Center in Tunkhannock, the EMVB distributes its Guide to the Endless Mountains in nearby counties and throughout Pennsylvania and New York states at highway rest areas and welcome centers.

We look forward to the day when we can once again highlight our members at travel, sports and other themed shows and industry events,” Ruhf related. “In the meantime, we are working with our tourism partners to schedule new seminars and workshops in which members can participate virtually or in person, as soon as we can do so again safely.”

As Americans turn in increasing numbers to the internet for information and resources, the EMVB is constantly updating its website www.endlessmountains.org to reflect an ever-changing pallet of options for people venturing out on day and weekend trips and longer vacations, as well as those driving through the area and seeking unique places to shop, eat, and explore.

Until the time that events like our amazing county fairs and themed festivals can resume in larger numbers, the Endless Mountains remains home to numerous parks, trails and recreation areas; rivers, creeks waterfalls and lakes; and countless scenic vistas. Nobody does social distancing as well as rural Pennsylvanians, as we roll out our virtual red carpets.

Letting people know where inns, bed & breakfasts, hotels and vacation rentals are is just the start, Ruhf explained. “We are dedicated to getting information about our members out to visitors before and after they arrive,” she stated. “We are also still representing our members through networking opportunities and routine meetings with tour and travel partners, including AAA.”
