Tunkhannock Township Police were joined by Pennsylvania State Police at BKV Operating along Route 6 west of Tunkhannock this morning to investigate a “suspicious package,” described as a small box to the director of the Endless Mountains Visitors Center next door. Police cruisers and company vehicles blocked the access and egress roads to the property, which is situated on the south side of the highway, east of Mile Road. A small tent was set up by Wyoming County Emergency Management while law enforcement officials awaited a bomb squad from the Lehigh Valley that arrived at about 12:30. Tunkhannock Ambulance and Triton Hose Company arrived on the scene shortly thereafter. There was no disruption of traffic nor was anybody from the visitors center, a nearby home, an auto service center nor Geisinger Medical Group on adjacent Trieble Drive asked to evacuate the area as of 1 pm.
