Submitted Article

The Penn State Extension Master Gardeners of Susquehanna County are excited to announce that their massive fundraising plant sale will be held at a new location. Join the fun at Tannery Place’s back parking lot, located behind South Main Street by the traffic light in downtown Montrose. The Master Gardener Plant Sale will be held on Friday, May 8, from 10 am to 6 pm and Saturday, May 9, from 10 am to 2 pm.

The sale will be set up in the long garage with several weather-friendly bays for our sale. The move provides ample parking, a fluid layout for shoppers and a festival-like setting. The plant sale will feature more than 200 varieties of perennials, annuals, herbs and a huge selection of vegetables to choose from.

In addition to plants, there will be tables full of gardening information, book sales and specialty vendors. Food, including chicken BBQ hosted by the SusqCo Kids 4-H Club, will be available for purchase.

The Master Gardeners are also working on the plant sale catalog and form for pre-orders. If you’d like a catalog when it’s available, call the Penn State Extension Office at 570-666-9003, email the Master Gardeners at Susquehannamg@psu.edu and stop by the Extension Office at 88 Chenango Street, Montrose, when the catalog is complete. Those who pre-order can pick up during the plant sale.

The Master Gardeners are happy with the new location for the plant sale. Tannery Place is accessible via Church Street, Beech Street, Cedar Street and from South Main Street. Watch for signs.

Proceeds help the Master Gardeners fund educational gardening programs for residents throughout the county. Programs are held at Salt Springs, Harford Fair, countywide Senior Centers, local Garden Clubs presentations and at our array of demonstration gardens, to name a few. Please support your local Master Gardeners by attending the Plant Sale.
