Keller Bill Naming Post Office after Hunts for Healing Founder Advances

Bill would name Laceyville Post Office for Melinda “Mindy” Gene Piccotti, an Air Force veteran and community leader

Congressman Fred Keller announced on Thursday that his bill, H.R. 4279 to name the post office in Laceyville, Wyoming County, after Melinda “Mindy” Gene Piccotti, an Air Force veteran and community leader who founded Hunts for Healing, advanced from the House Oversight and Reform Committee.

Started in 2009, Hunts for Healing aims to help wounded soldiers returning from military missions in Iraq and Afghanistan and other combat veterans transition back into civilian life by allowing them to experience the joys of hunting, including social interaction and comradery.

On the advancement of the legislation, Keller said the following:

As a testament to her life and service, the bill to name the Laceyville Post Office for Mindy Gene Piccotti has received bipartisan support from the Pennsylvania Congressional delegation and the House Oversight and Reform Committee.

Mindy’s dedication to helping her fellow veterans return to civilian life is a lasting legacy that shows her selflessness and her sense of our society’s continuing need to serve those who safeguard our freedom.

Naming the Laceyville Post Office in her honor is a fitting and appropriate display of the indelible mark she continues to leave on countless heroes.

I am proud to see this legislation move forward and hope it will soon pass the full House.”
