The public is invited to Old Mill Village for a glimpse at a centuries-old way of life during Viking Day on Saturday, Sept. 14. This special fundraising event will be held from noon to 5 pm on the village grounds, located at 5774 State Route 848, New Milford.

All things Viking will take over the village with plenty of displays and demonstrations of the culture, arts, and skills of the first Europeans to visit North America.

To compliment the activities, there will be authentic Viking food for the tasting, along with demonstrations of Viking weapons, Norse weaving and knitting, a workshop of Rune reading, and a trading post.

Admission is $5 for those 12 years and over; $2 for 5-11 years; and free for those under 5. The village buildings will also be open for touring during the event, as will the Village Mercantile and Village Canteen.

Old Mill Village Museum was founded over 50 years ago to preserve the area’s rich heritage. It has become a center of education and history, showcasing the crafts and artifacts of the late 18th through the early 20th centuries.
