Penn State Extension Offers Programs on Alzheimer’s & Dementia

Submitted Article

Most people know someone who either has Alzheimer’s or is caring for someone who does as there are currently 16.1 million Americans providing unpaid care to those affected by the disease. Groups who are interested in learning more about Alzheimer’s and dementia are encouraged to schedule one, two, or three of the workshops offered by Penn State Extension in cooperation with the Alzheimer’s Association. Each workshop is between 45 minutes to one hour and can be conducted at your location.

The three workshops are:

The “Understanding Alzheimer’s and Dementia” program explores the relationship between Alzheimer’s disease and dementia, explains the risk factors and the general stages of the disease, and offers helpful Alzheimer’s Association resources.

The “10 Warning Signs of Alzheimer’s” program helps participants recognize common signs of the disease and know what to watch for in themselves and others.

The “Healthy Living for Your Brain and Body: Tips from the Latest Research” program is designed for individuals of any age who are interested in healthy living and aging well.

These programs are offered at no cost in the general areas of Wyoming, Susquehanna, and Lackawanna counties. To schedule any of these for your group or organization, call Karen Bracey at 570-836-3196 or email kbracey@psu.edu.
