Normandy Veteran Honored in Bradford County

The Bradford County Commissioners (top) were honored to present WWII veteran William F. Cowles with a certificate of recognition on May 28 in a small service at the Sayre Personal Care home where he resides. Mr. Cowles is the last know survivor of the Battle of Normandy in Bradford County. He is the recipient of the WWII Victory Medal, American Service Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Service medal and Good conduct Medal.

Pete Miller (above) the Director of Veteran Affairs for Bradford County nominated Mr. Cowles for a Quilt of Valor. To receive a quilt of valor, you must be a veteran touched by war. Mr. Cowles was presented with his quilt by Carol Ullo from the Quilts of Valor foundation. The mission of the Quilts of Valor Foundation is to cover service members and veterans touched by war with comforting and healing quilts of valor.
