A large crowd gathered in downtown Meshoppen last Friday as a pair of operators moved their excavators into position to push down the last part of the former Tyler Hospital and Kennard Hotel that was methodically demolished over the course of a week. Traffic on Route 6 was stopped briefly to ensure that no debris fell toward the roadway, but everything seemed to go as planned. A large plume of dust followed the final collapse. The lot is earmarked for a truck and car wash.
