$35,000 in PAsmart Initiative Grants Allotted to Local Schools

Rep. Tina Pickett (Bradford/Sullivan/Susquehanna) said today that five local schools within the 110th District will each receive $35,000 as part of Gov. Tom Wolf’s PAsmart Initiative.

The PAsmart Initiative provided $8.7 million in grants to 765 schools across the Commonwealth to boost career-readiness.

The targeted grants represent the next phase of the new and innovative PAsmart Initiative, which will provide $20 million to introduce high-quality computer science and STEM education in elementary, middle and high schools, and as professional development for teachers.

I am thrilled to announce that five local school districts in the 110th District were selected to receive this grant,” said Pickett. “These grants, which were funded in the 2018-19 state budget, will provide a greater opportunity for students from all backgrounds to learn the critical skills needed to succeed in today’s workforce.”

The school districts in the 110th District which received the grant are as follows: Athens Area School District; Montrose Area School District; Mountain View School District; Northeast Bradford School District; and Sayre Area School District.
