The Penn State Extension will host a Pond & Lake Management Workshop at Camp Brulé, located at 2559 North Street, Forksville on Friday, May 11, at 5:00 p.m. Join Peter Wolfhurst, Penn State Extension Educator for presentations on timely pond and lake issues in Northeast PA. Homeowners and commercial property managers will find value in this program.

Ponds and lakes are a common feature of the landscape of Northeastern Pennsylvania and provide a source of enjoyment for many landowners. Although they occur naturally in this area, many have been constructed for a variety of purposes. Regardless of its intended use, the management of a pond or lake can be complex and sometimes difficult. Pond and Lake Management will address managing nuisance plants and algae in your lake.

Registration is as simple as going on-line at https://extension.psu.edu/pond-and-lake-management-workshop or calling 877-345-069. Cost per person is $20. A light meal will be provided. The Pennsylvania State University encourages qualified persons with disabilities to participate in its programs and activities. If you anticipate needing any type of accommodation or have questions about the physical access provided, please contact Jeannette at 570-265-2896 in advance of your participation or visit. Penn State College of Agricultural Sciences research and extension programs are funded in part by Pennsylvania counties, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and the US Department of Agriculture.

The website - a meager investment with no immediate return - is meant to be community-based and to reflect the varied tastes of its readers. Submissions from legitimate organizations and event coordinators are welcome and will be published as space and time allow. This website is operated by Endless Mountains Media Services. I am seeking submissions of news stories, promotional press releases, and photos for posting with full recognition for the submitter. I am also hoping to build a base of correspondents who would enjoy being my "ears and eyes" in parts of the four county region where news is happening. I am also a self-employed media consultant and freelance writer/editor, providing professional services for businesses, municipalities, and organizations for which retaining a full time staff writer is not a viable option.
