The Penn State Extension livestock team and the Pennsylvania Beef Producer Working Group have planned three beef producer meetings for April in the northern tier counties of Tioga, Bradford, and Susquehanna. The meetings are for persons interested in cow/calf production. All meetings are free and open to the public.
The meetings are scheduled for Tuesday, April 10 at the Tokishi Center in Wellsboro, Wednesday, April 11 at the Towanda Gun Club near Wysox, and Thursday, April 12 at the Montrose Library, Montrose. All meetings will run from 6:30 pm to 9 pm.
At each session, Dustin Heeter, Penn State Livestock Extension Team, will be discussing the basics of reading performance data. Learn how to understand data surrounding bulls as offered for sale. Cheryl Fairbairn, also from the Penn State Livestock Extension Team, will be speaking about marketing feeder calves in Pennsylvania. In this discussion, beef producers will learn how to command a higher price for their calves. There will be time for questions and discussion during each presentation.
